Common sense or "common censorship"?
Err, really? Are we actually asking this question?
The claim being splashed across the media this week (even the Jakarta Post has an article on it) is that Foreign Minister Stephen Smith is personally responsible for ‘censoring’ art and artists taking part in the Asia Pacific Triennial.

Higher Art Gallery are hosting an evening gallery walk this weekend and in the spirit of gallery walks, on this warm ‘n’ sunny Friday afternoon, I took myself on something of my own.
Galleries visited included the IMA, Jan Murphy and Philip Bacon Galleries in Fortitude Valley. Throw in the use of a car (not strictly walking, I know) and I could even include the UAM at UQ in St Lucia.

Gonkar Gyatso at Jan Murphy
I loved this exhibition.
Gyatso’s work provide a reflection upon the melding of cultures, particularly drawing upon the idea of cultural hybridism. Of Tibetan origin, Gyatso is now based in London, and it is clear that his work explores the issues of identity that pertain to this.
